Independence, Inc. hosts 8th Annual Independent Living Fair
Independence Inc. kicked off it's 8th Annual Independent Living Fair Wednesday.
The fair hosted more than 40 booths ranging from home living to veteran services. Organizers expect nearly 200 people to attend, and say it is the only fair like this in the state and one of few in the nation, adding that it provides services to the disabled community that enable them to live more full and complete lives.
"It's all about that early stage and effort of trying to bring everybody together to help people and show people that independent living is a real option and that it can be attained right here in Minot and in the surrounding communities," says Scott Burlingame, Independence Inc. Executive Director.
"It's one large group put together; you don't have to go searching for something, they are all here for you. I think it's a great event! Everybody's really happy and real personable and very helping, and lots of knowledge here," says Wanda Aanderud, Independence Living Fair attendee.
"Information is power and every time we have the opportunity to get lots of people together, with lots of information, we have a good opportunity to create opportunities for people to live independently," continued Burlingame.
Independence Inc. expects to hold the fair again next year.
