BISMARCK, N.D. - Physical activity is a great way to stay healthy and burn calories.
And today, hundreds of people walked or ran to celebrate a healthy heart, and to remember those lost to health conditions.
Meteorologist Curt Olson emceed the event, which included music and games for the family. Mary Reiser has organized the event for the past four years. She says it's the inspirational stories that bring people back year after year.
"It gets me out of bed every morning, to try to help make a difference for some like Amelia, our six year old princess of the Heart Walk, who we honored today as a survivor," said Mary Reiser, regional director of American Heart Association.
Reiser says they raised more than $35,000, that will go to educational programs in the community.
