Horse race to honor Dep. Colt Allery, other fallen officers

BELCOURT, N.D. – A special horse race this weekend in the Turtle Mountains will honor the sacrifices of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, including Rolette County’s own Colt Allery.

On Saturday, June 15 at Chippewa Downs in Belcourt, eight horses will run the six and a half furlongs to honor fallen officers.

The jockeys will wear special blue and black jerseys and the horses will have special saddles.

Emergency personnel have been invited to the track to show support.

Events at the track will begin around 1:30 p.m., with the main race between 4:30 p.m and 5:30 p.m.
