HETTINGER COUNTY, N.D. - The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate a two-vehicle crash that happened earlier this week in Hettinger County.

The patrol says 61-year old Douglas Pekas of Mott suffered life threatening injuries in the crash, which happened about seven miles east of Mott on Monday.

Authorities say Pekas did not stop at a stop sign when he turned from 83rd Avenue Southwest onto Highway 21. He pulled out in front of an SUV driven by 35-year-old Charlotte Aldinger. Her SUV struck Pekas' pickup, causing it to spin around before ending up in the ditch. Aldinger and her 18-month old passenger both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Pekas was taken to the hospital in Elgin, and later airlifted to a Bismarck hospital.
