The sign on top of the iconic Hedderich's building in Williston may be able to be saved.
A controlled demolition of the building is set to begin tomorrow morning.
However, as of now, the entire building is not coming down. Crews will be removing debris from the third floor that was largely destroyed in the fire on July 10th. That includes removing the sign. Doc Ashton, who owns the building, told us that the sign simply laid down when the roof collapsed. He says it is largely intact and crews will attempt to preserve it when they remove it from the building.
The demolition is expected to last throughout the weekend. During this time, Main Street between 1st and 2nd street will be closed. Once the debris is removed from the third floor, Ashton said they will have a better idea of what can be saved of the building.
