Hair salon collects beauty supplies for local women's shelters

BISMARCK, N.D. - What started as a simple comment for a customer, turned into a yearly tradition for a Bismarck hair salon.

For the sixth year in a row, the Bombshell Salon is collecting unwanted beauty products and hair tools to donate to local women's shelters.

Amanda Faass says she has to make five trips to the shelter because of the amount donated.

"When they're leaving their house, especially with abused women's resources, they're leaving with nothing. This is at least makeup, a normal routine, something to make it feel not so bad," said Faass, Bombshell Salon co-owner.

More than $38,000 of product has been donated since the start. A percentage of sales will also go towards the shelter.

If you would like to donate supplies, there is a donating box at the salon. They will be collecting donations through the end of April.
