MANDAN, N.D. - It may be September, but it's still perfect weather to grill out. That was the hope behind Grill with a Cop in Mandan.
The second annual event at Eagles Park attracted more than 700 people last year to eat and have fun with police. This year, they planned for a thousand.
"It's so nice to see the kids, you know, get the officers out there playing with the kids. We have our police explorers here tonight, get everybody out playing with the kids because that's a big thing to get them to know that we're not scary," said Deputy Chief Lori Flaten.
Games and a playground were also there to keep children and families entertained.
