Governor signs funding bill that includes $82.5 million for Minot flood protection

BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum signed into law a funding bill for the State Water Commission that includes $82.5 million for the major flood control project for Minot.

The bill also includes $66.5 million for the Fargo-Moorhead area flood protection project, with $750 million in intent language for the project.

In signing the bill, Burgum shared disapproval that the intent for the Fargo-Moorhead project wasn’t $870 million, saying the project will protect the state’s largest metro area.

The largest part of the Minot flood protection project is slated to be finished by the end of 2020.
