Gov. Doug Burgum has signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana into law.

Voters passed a similar measure in a ballot initiative in November.

The measure allows primary care doctors and registered nurses to recommend medical marijuana to patients who have a card allowing them to purchase it from dispensaries.

It doesn't allow anyone under 19 from using smokable marijuana or using products with high levels of THC.

The bill limits people to buying 2,000 milligrams of THC per month, or about 110 joints according to one representative.
