Four-year sentence in Minot child pornography investigation

MINOT, N.D. – A Minot man will serve four years in prison and register as a sex offender after admitting to downloading, viewing, and sharing child pornography.

Prosecutors had charged 26-year-old Bryan Cordero-Rodriguez with promoting an obscene performance by a minor and possession of certain materials prohibited following an investigation that included local authorities, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

According to a criminal affidavit, investigators traced videos on a file-sharing network to Cordero-Rodriguez that depicted prepubescent children engaging in sexual acts.

Cordero-Rodriguez, who pleaded guilty to the charges in October, admitted to investigators he had searched, viewed, downloaded, and shared the videos.

The judge ordered Cordero-Rodriguez to a ten-year sentence, with him first serving four years. He will receive credit for 342 days already served.

He will also have to serve three years of supervised probation and go through offender treatment.
