Fort Yates man changes plea in sexual abuse of a minor case

A Fort Yates man charged with sexual abuse of a minor has changed his plea to guilty in Federal court this week.

Forty-two-year-old Christopher Decoteau is charged with touching a 13-year-old sexually.

The indictment says he also tampered with evidence named in a search warrant connected to the abuse case.

The maximum time Decoteau could serve for the child abuse charge is 15 years and 5 years to life of supervised release.

For the tampering charge the maximum he could be sentenced to by a judge is 20 years and three years of supervised release.

His sentencing hearing will be on March 5.
