Former McLean and Hettinger County deputy sentenced to 3 years in prison

The former McLean and Hettinger County deputy charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Fifty-four-year-old Richard Anderson was accused of showing the boy gay porn and had the minor stay at his house and engage in lewd conduct.

Anderson pleaded guilty to corruption or solicitation of minors, luring minors by computer, sexual assault in January.

During today's hearing Anderson apologized to his family, friends and the victim.

"To the victim, I would like to say I’m very sorry. I should never have allowed this to happen and I hope and pray that you can overcome this," said Anderson.

Anderson had a fourth charge against him for indecent exposure but that was dismissed. He will also have two years of probation and register as a sex offender.
