BISMARCK, N.D. - The number of people in the state using food stamps is dropping.

In the fiscal year of 2017, data shows that almost 54,000 people used food stamps every month, which is down about 500 from the year prior.

While the numbers for North Dakota as a state are down, Burleigh County has seen an increase of about 100 each month.

North Dakotans who are enrolled in the program received an average of $122 per month in 2016 and 2017.

If you have a family of four, you can apply for food stamps if you make less than $2,665 dollars per month.
