NBC - Following up on that data breach at Equifax.
The personal information of 143 million Americans could be affected.
Public outrage is growing and now, congress is promising hearings on the matter.
Already, nearly 50 lawsuits have already been filed in federal court, including a multi-billion dollar class-action lawsuit.
Also being examined, the fact that three Equifax executives are accused of selling stock, right before the breach happened.
The company says the execs didn't know of the breach.
The big question is... will Equifax be held accountable for the hack?
Credit agencies have fewer regulations than banks and they spend a lot of money, trying to get congress to lessen those regulations.
