Fargo mom found guilty of murdering newborn
A jury has found a Fargo mother guilty of murdering her newborn child by drowning him in a bathtub.
Court documents say 37-year-old Ginny Rose Lubitz gave birth on May 5, 2018, locked in the bathroom at a friend's house.
When Lubitz later unlocked the door for two women, they found blood all over the floors, and Lubitz said she didn't want the women to see what she did.
Documents say the women asked where the newborn child was, and Lubitz nodded toward the bathtub. One of the women found the newborn in the bathtub face down in about an inch of pink water.
The woman removed the child and found the umbilical cord had been cut and tied off with a hair tie. Documents say Lubitz told the woman to not bother doing CPR.
An autopsy on the child showed levels of amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system and ruled the cause of death a drowning.
A search warrant on Lubitz's cell phone found dozens of searches on how to abort or terminate late term and unwanted pregnancies.
Lubitz will be sentenced at a later date.
