Edgeley farmer plows political message in field

EDGELEY, N.D. - Inspired by Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Fargo yesterday, Edgeley farmer Gene Hanson has once again plowed a political message in his field.

Hanson says his latest message, "Congress help our farmers. Pass USMCA," is to encourage Congress to approve the USMCA.

USMCA is short for United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement. It would replace NAFTA as a free trade agreement between the three countries. The agreement has been signed, but needs to be ratified by all three countries. As for the field, Hanson says it took about two and a half hours to plow.

The whole message covers 15 acres and was so big, he needed to use his neighbor's field. Each letter of the message is 75 by 120 feet.
