Drug “Take Back Event”

BISMARCK, ND- Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health and the Bismarck Police Department are teaming up to host the third drug "Take Back Event" in the area.

These events are important because it offers the public a safe way to dispose of their unused drugs, says Renae Moch from Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health.

Extra drugs we might have lying around can fall into the hands of children or addicts if left in family medicine cabinets, Moch says.

Even drugs that are flushed down the toilet could contaminate our water supply, she explains.

"There's a proper and safe way to return your unused medications that these take back locations are available throughout the community and it gets drugs off the streets and prevents them from getting into the wrong hands," says Moch.

They will weigh the drugs after the event and hope to beat the 15 pounds they collected last year.

The event will take place at the Burleigh County Senior Center on May 7th from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
