Downtown Minot construction delayed for water line issues

Minot, N.D. Construction in downtown Minot has hit a minor delay.

The second block of Main Street from First to Second Avenue was supposed to be completed by July 15, but is now expected to be completed during the last week of July instead.

During a common procedure of pressure testing on a water line, small leaks were detected.

The process of locating, repairing and testing these leaks took more time than planned but construction crews are optimistic.

"It affected the moral of the construction crew trying to find where the leaks were coming from, so they had a rough week last week but everything's looking a lot brighter now," says Dave Schwengler, construction manager.

Construction on First Avenue Southwest between Main and Broadway is expected to be completed in two weeks.
