The superintendent of Williams County School District #8 will be leaving his position seven months early.

The board voted 3-2 to let Superintendent Rob Turner end his contract so he doesn’t have to resign. He says the reason is because his certification expires on December 12, and instead of renewing it to finish his contract to the end of next June, he is leaving on December 11.

Curtis Sullivan, who voted no, said he’d be willing to pay for Turner’s re-certification so they could hire another superintendent before he leaves.

The board will have another meeting soon to discuss their options for hiring a replacement.
