Dickinson man accused of raping and recording a woman pleaded not guilty Monday

DICKINSON, N.D. - A Dickinson man accused of raping a woman and recording it, pleaded not guilty in court Monday.

Fifty-year-old Richard Powley is accused of having videos in his cellphone from June 2017 sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.

In April, Assistant State’s Attorney Marina Spahr charged Powley with three counts of gross sexual imposition victim unaware. Monday a judge dismissed two of those counts.

Powley pleaded not guilty to the remaining charge Monday. He’s also charged in connection to the same case with two counts of gross sexual imposition sexual act with force.

His trial is scheduled for June 20.
