Dickinson Public School's Superintendent Shon Hocker has announced the district's intent to build a elementary school instead of a high school.

Hocker says the need to build a high school is still there but they need to explore more options.

Hocker says that elementary enrollment number continues to surpass capacity and they have to address that need right away.

The district hopes to have a location by the end of this year, host several work session and hopefully have a board vote at the April or May school board meetings, then create a design for the school, and then hopefully break ground this time next year.
