UPDATE: Two charged in weekend drug arrest during traffic stop

BURLEIGH COUNTY, N.D. - UPDATE (5-23-19): Misty Lee Painte, 35, from Fort Yates, and Marshall Stafford, 32, of Oregon, are facing drug charges after deputies say they found about $14,000 worth of heroin in Painte's car.

The Burleigh County Sheriff's Department also found 123 grams of methamphetamine, $4,000 in cash, equipment to weigh the drugs, and needles during a traffic stop on I-94 in Bismarck.

A deputy says he pulled Painte over for having a headlight out and driving on an expired license when he smelled marijuana, giving him probable cause to search the car.

Stafford was in the passenger seat.

ORIGINAL STORY (5-19-19): The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department found drugs and cash during a traffic stop Saturday.

According to the department’s Facebook page, deputies yielded 123 grams of methamphetamine, over 49 grams of heroin and $4,000 in cash.​

Burliegh County Sheriff Kelly Leben says the investigation is still ongoing.
