Deer season opener

Across the state, people left the office and hit the trail for the deer season opener.

More than 55,000 licenses were issued this year. The record was 150,000 issued in 2007.

We wanted to know what motivates people to get out and hunt.

"A lot of people like to go back home for deer hunting. I'm one of them, and you just get to see a lot of old family and friends that you don't get to see as regularly anymore, and it's a fun time being out in North Dakota's outdoors," said Jeb Williams, Wildlife Division chief.

Williams wants hunters to remember to remain aware of their surroundings with so many out hunting.
