MINOT N.D. - The deadline for applying for crop insurance is quickly approaching and insurance agents are urging farmers and ranchers to get ahead in the game.
This years deadline is March 15.
The summer drought, along with the below average amount of snowfall we received so far this winter, insurance agents say some farmers may be a little hesitant about purchasing insurance but the hope is always there.
They also say it is best to talk to an agent sooner rather than later.
“The best thing is to get in and talk to your agent early. Come in with some plans, find out and let us know what you're seeding, where you're seeding, what your plans are so we can put a good crop insurance program together for you, that will work for you and your farming operation,” said Becky Braaten, vice president of Insurances for Farm Credit Services.
