WILLISTON, N.D. - The Williston Police Department says a couple is in custody awaiting their bond hearing after they were caught breaking into a house Sunday night, one eventually being removed by force.
Officers say 19-year-old Jasmyn Belts and 30-year-old John Nolt were seen entering through a back window of someone else’s house in the 800 block of 4th Street West. Police say after they knocked on the door for a while, Belts responded and was arrested.
Law enforcement say they searched the residence and found that Nolt was hiding in the basement due to outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for failure to register as a sex offender, as well as drug, and alcohol related charges.
Nolt would not come out of the basement, so law enforcement says they deployed a pepper ball, and Nolt exited the residence and was arrested. They are both charged with Criminal Trespass.
