MINOT, N.D.- Across the entire state affecting all counties in our viewing area, a new Interim Director of the State Parks and Recreation Department is appointed.
Governor Doug Burgum appointed Ryan Gardner and he will start on Monday. He replaces Melissa Baker.
Gardner joined the department in 2010 as a seasonal park ranger at Grahams Island State Park near his hometown of Devils Lake.
The Parks and Recreation Director oversees North Dakota's 15 state parks and recreation areas and is a member of the governor's cabinet.
Thursday in Mountrail, Rolette, Ward, Wells, and Ramsey Counties, the NDSU extensions are hosting an IVN workshop on the importance of supporting farm and ranch youth through hard times.
Monica Kramer McConkey will lead the discussion at the workshop touching on topics like stress on communities and families in rural North Dakota, analyzing experiences, identifying resources, along with several other topics.
The workshop runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., but call your extension office ahead of time to find where there workshop will be held.
