Contestants prepare for Miss North Dakota Scholarship Competition

WILLISTON, N.D. - Now in its 33rd year in Williston, The Miss North Dakota Scholarship Competition will again be showcasing some of the states brightest and most accomplished young women this weekend.

Twenty contestants from across the state arrived in town on Sunday and have a busy week of rehearsals and preliminary competitions.

On Saturday night, the reigning Miss North Dakota 2018 and Williston native Katie Olson will relinquish her crown to the next title-holder who will then compete in the Miss America 2019 competition.

North Dakota's Miss Outstanding Teen 2018 Micah Schlittenhardt says being part of the program provides young women with many life skills and friendships, as well as money for college. She says,

"This organization is an incredible organization where we offer girls thousands of dollars in scholarships. $44,000 will be offered to girls on Saturday night as well as $11,000 to girls on Friday night in the teen program," said Schlittenhardt.

You can catch the Miss North Dakota Outstanding Teen Competition on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Miss North Dakota Competition on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the Bakken School Auditorium.

Tickets can still be purchased online or at the door starting at 6:00 p.m.
