BISMARCK, N.D. - Construction is underway at the site for Bismarck's soon-to-be low-income, senior housing option: Century Cottages.
Workers are laying the foundation and plan to start building vertical by the first week of October.
The 35-unit complex will be dedicated to senior citizens.
The facility will include 17 one bedroom units starting at $405 and 18 two bedroom units ranging from $495 to $810.
The apartments will feature common areas such as a lobby area with a lounge, a kitchen with seating and a fireplace, fitness center, multipurpose room for activities, library, and a media room.
"That's the difference in a project like ours. It's not just an apartment building for seniors; it's really designed to be more of a community. It's designed to foster social interaction and activity," said Donald J. Sterhan, Mountain Plains Equity Group CEO.
Mountain Plains Equity Group, Incorporated is co-developing the project with Lewis and Clark Development Group. Their goal is to provide housing for seniors living off a fixed income at or below 60% of the median area income.
