Confirm Kavanaugh Rally held in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. - Support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, is strong in North Dakota.

Many people attended a rally in the capital city to urge our state senators to confirm Kavanaugh.

This seat on the Supreme Court would cement conservative majority.

Thirty people attended a rally of support for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and urged state senators to do the same.

"I'm here today along with Pro-Life people in North Dakota to urge Senator Heitkamp to pledge that she will vote to confirm justice Kavanaugh," said Marilyn Musgrave, Susan B. Anthony List.

Rallies across the U.S. are sponsored by Susan B Anthony List - a non-profit organization that works to elect pro-life individuals.

"We're rallying our support for this supreme court justice to our senator in a positive fashion, this is positive,” said Bette Grande, Fargo.

Susan B. Anthony says in a poll, 68% of North Dakotans want Heitkamp to vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

"Judge Kavanaugh is a man who is committed to upholding the original intent of the foundation of our democracy as enshrined in the constitution,” said Mark Jorritsma, Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota.

Representatives at Planned Parenthood in Fargo do not favor Kavanaugh's values.

"We know that he has attempted to use his judicial power to prevent a woman from accessing safe, legal abortion. He cannot be trusted to respect the precedent on individual liberty, including the right to access contraception," said Amy Jacobson, ND Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood.

Jacobson says she also believes Kavanaugh would get rid of the affordable care act, leaving thousands of North Dakotans without health care.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund gives Heidi Heitkamp a 100 percent rating, although Jacobson says she's not sure which way Heidi will vote.
