MANDAN, N.D. - People converged outside the Morton County Law Enforcement Center Friday afternoon with a simple message.
They wanted to thank officers for what they've been doing each and every day in serving the community and for their increased role during the recent pipeline protests.
Organizers Rachel Zenker and Kimberly Kruska say it was an important gesture. They greeted the officers, waved flags, and made posters to show their support.
"It reaffirms that our citizens are the best in the country, so it makes every single law enforcement officer who does this job when they see their community back them like this. Just reaffirms the job that we're doing and the difference that we're making out there on the streets," says Jason Ziegler, Mandan Police Chief.
They promoted the event on Facebook and welcomed all to come.
