BERTHOLD, N.D. – Multiple fire crews responded Monday afternoon to a combine on fire in a sunflower field, just east of Berthold.
Berthold, Des Lacs, and Burlington Fire Departments responded, along with Berthold Police, around 5 p.m., near 226th Street, roughly a quarter mile north of Lonetree township, according to the Berthold Police Chief Al Schmidt.
Schmidt said Lonetree residents reported hearing a loud explosion where the fire occurred.
He said no one was hurt, though the combine is a total loss.
It’s unclear how it started. The fire did not spread and was out by 6:30 p.m.
