MANDAN, N.D - After putting out an apartment fire Wednesday night, the Mandan Fire Department ran into operating issues with a fire truck because of the freezing temperatures.
Extreme cold temperatures are hard on all the equipment at the fire station, and it just makes everything more difficult. While the Mandan Fire Department hasn't been busy with many firesthis winter, the cold weather alone puts a lot of wear on the trucks.
“This time of year we go on a lot of carbon monoxide calls cause people's furnaces are running more and it's just having the trucks outside just takes a toll eventually,” said Firefighter EMT Matt Hennessy.
Hennessy said that even though the cold continues, they hope to have their main fire truck up and running by Friday.
