City of Williston looking to lower plane ticket prices

WILLISTON, N.D. - According to the air service consultant Landrum and Brown, Williston has the third highest air fares in the nation.

City of Williston employees want to add a new airline and more flights to reduce those prices.

The demand for air travel is high and the economy is growing in the midst of oilfield activity, increasing the prices of plane tickets.

To lower travelers' costs, The City of Williston is talking with new air service providers to add routes coming out of Williston.

Salt Lake City, Houston, Las Vegas, and Phoenix are possibilities, but there are no commitments have been made yet.

As an incentive, the City of Williston applied for a grant that would provide resources for the future airline, and ultimately lower costs for travelers.
