A Minnesota man charged with the assault of a priest in Drake-Anamoose a few weeks ago, appeared in McHenry County Court on Thursday.
Chad Legare, who was arrested Tuesday in Alexandria, Minnesota, had his bond set at $250,000 cash after being charged on three felony accounts for the attack on priest Robert Wapenski.
Lagare was charged with a class A felony for attempted murder, a Class B Felony for aggravated assault, and a Class C Felony for burglary.
Lagare has two misdemeanors on his record already.
“There was a conviction for disorderly conduct in the state of Minnesota, and a conviction for an insufficient funds check here in North Dakota. The state has not been made aware of any problems with the defendant in court proceedings,” said McHenry County State’s Attorney Josh Frye.
If found guilty, Lagare could face 35 years in prison for his actions.
