BISMARCK, N.D. - Century High School special needs instructor Sara Bohrer was honored Monday morning as one of the community's teachers of the year.
Bohrer previously taught in elementary schools before making the change to the high school and special needs. She created a peer to peer class at Century which allows students without disabilities to learn about inclusion, leadership skills and disabilities.
Bohrer says she loves teaching because she gets to watch her students grow and give them a place to be safe at school.
“For me, just a student nominating me was enough to know that what is happening here at century high school is so powerful,” Bohrer said.
This is the 32nd year the Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC has handed out the awards.
