CENTER, N.D. - A lucky man from Center, N.D., won big Monday night on Wheel of Fortune.
Andy Riehl auditioned for the show at both a preliminary and a national competition.
After two years of waiting, he finally had his moment in the spotlight.
Riehl has been watching the show for about 40 years.
When he finally received the call to be a contestant, he took advantage of his once in a lifetime shot at spinning the wheel and won big.
”I told my wife, 'If I come home with a couple thousand dollars, it's just the experience is worth it.' I mean just to have the fun, but to actually win that kind of money was totally unexpected,” said Andy Riehl, the Wheel of the Fortune winner.
Riehl had two options when he picked up the mystery card in the second round: win $10,000 or go bankrupt.
Fortunately, he won the money. Just being a contestant was a dream come true for Riehl.
But winning $27,750 made the experience better than he could've imagined.
Riehl and his wife say they want to use the money to treat themselves to vacations.
