Car crashes into Bismarck PD squad car Tuesday night

BISMARCK, N.D. - Two officers with the Bismarck Police Department were involved in an accident Tuesday night and suffered minor injuries.

The Bismarck Police Department says after 11:30 p.m. a squad car with two officer inside was driving East on Rosser Ave. when they saw a car coming toward them that didn’t have proper registration.

Pat Renz with BPD says the officers U-turned and tried to stop the black car when it turned North on 24th Street and drove at what officers say was a high-rate of speed.

Police say a few moments later, there was a call over the radio that a separate squad car was crashed into by the 25-year-old suspect's car.

Both of the officers and the suspect were taken to area hospitals. The officers were treated and released but police say they’re unsure if the suspect has left the hospital because he had “more extensive injuries.”

A release from Highway Patrol says they are the agency investigating the crash.

No charges have been posted on the driver yet.

Metro ambulance and Bismarck Fire Department also responded to the crash Tuesday night.
