BURLINGTON, N.D. – The City of Burlington remains without a permanent auditor, after the city offered the position to someone, but they turned it down.
Nichole Degenstein told the city she will remain at her current position to take on a project that had recently started.
The city's searching for a new auditor after Diane Fugere resigned last week, after 15 years on the job.
City leaders say they will hold another meeting to appoint another candidate.
Deputy Auditor Lynn Brooks will fill the position for now.
