BISMARCK, N.D. - The North Dakota Department of Transportation will have a new director this fall.

On Friday, Gov. Doug Burgum appointed former Wyoming Department of Transportation director William T. Panos to lead the department.

Panos will take over for Ron Henke, the NDDOT Deputy Director of Engineering, who has served as the interim director since former director Tom Sorel retired in April.

In a release, Panos said that he looks forward to improving the state's infrastructure, the use of innovative technology, and using enhanced transportation systems to improve the economy.

Panos will begin his duties with the NDDOT by October 21.
