BISMARCK, N.D. - One of Gov. Burgum's ways of reinventing government is to streamline certain offices and functions.

Wednesday, he announced a new chief operating officer to eventually replace the outgoing Jody Uecker.

Border States Electric CEO Tammy Miller will make a gradual transition to the position over the next 10 months, before joining the administration full time.

The COO works with cabinet agencies to improve how they work together and to spur innovation.
