MINOT, N.D.- Starting May 12, traffic across the Broadway Bridge in Minot will be closed for ten days due to floodwall construction.
The city will close the intersection on Broadway and 4th Ave., just north of the bridge.
The city says they're doing this to keep a safe work environment while contractors bring in sewer lines and other utilities to the construction site.
Some of the sewer line are up to twenty feet long.
“If we wouldn't have done this, it would've taken until December to get all the utility work done across here,” said Minot Public Works director Dan Jonasson.
The bridge will likely reopen May 22nd.
Drivers can still cross between the north and south parts of town while avoiding the train by taking 6th St., 16th St., or Burdick expressway.
