Graduation season is weeks away for high school seniors. The transition from high school can be a little costly, and a local organization is helping reduce the price tag. The Bismarck Kiwanis Club annual breakfast supports young adult reading programs and scholarships in the community.
This year five seniors will receive a scholarship toward the college of their choice based on grade point average and community service hours. Patrick Hendrickson says it's important to support the next generation.
"The scholarships kind of bring a different warm and fuzzy where it's, it's relieving. I mean I remember being a college kid and 'how do you pay for it?', 'What do you do?', you're scared," said Patrick Hendrickson, Bismarck Kiwanis Club President.
Sunday's benefit could create an additional eight scholarships.
