Bond set for man who barricaded himself in Williston home

WILLISTON, N.D. - The man who barricaded himself inside his home Tuesday in Williston appeared in court Wednesday on numerous charges.

Prosecutors charged 30-year-old Mark Sveen with terrorizing, aggravated assault, fleeing or eluding police officer, driving with a suspended license, and three meth-related charges.

Police say they responded to a report of a physical altercation between Sveen and his significant other. The victim told officers Sveen assaulted her with a walking-cane, held a knife to her neck, and threatened to kill her, according to court documents. Officers say the victim had bruising on both of her arms, swelling and a cut on her head, and a cut on her neck.

Law enforcement says Sveen would not come out and eventually tried to get away in a car, but was stopped by officers and arrested.

His bond was set at $30,000.

Sveen has a preliminary hearing on October 16.
