Bismarck woman loses thousands in cash advance scam

BISMARCK, N.D. - A 36-year-old Bismarck woman lost more than $2,500 in a cash advance scam.

Bismarck police say on Feb. 12 a woman was looking for a cash advance online when she was contacted by a person calling himself Jack Smith with Cash USA.

Police say Smith told the woman she qualified for the cash advance, but had to buy iTunes gift cards and provide him with the pins.

The woman provided the pins to Smith. The woman reported the incident to police on March 16.
