BISMARCK, ND - Dozens of downtown Bismarck businesses participated in small business Saturday, encouraging residents to shop locally.
Furniture stores, boutiques, and even restaurants downtown all found a reason to participate in Small Business Saturday.
Store owners and managers say the day helps bring shoppers back to the community.
One boutique owner says they are open every Black Friday, but small business Saturday draws the biggest crowds.
"I think small business Saturday is awesome. It brings awareness to all of the locally owned shops in Bismarck-Mandan. Locally owned pretty much gives back more to the community than a large corporation. So it just; your money coming in is being put back in the community."- Carly Lenihan, Owner of Lula B. Boutique
According to the National Federation of Independent Business, last year's Small Business Saturday brought out 95 million shoppers nationwide.
