BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck police are warning of a computer scam they say took $6,000 from a 74-year-old Bismarck woman.

Police say the woman had several pop-up windows on her computer claiming to be a Microsoft help line.

When the woman called the listed number to resolve the issue, she was told to purchase several $500 gift cards from stores around Bismarck then send them to the scammer.

Police are warning a reputable business will never ask for gift cards as payment.
