Bismarck native runs for Congress
Bismarck native Shireen Ghorbani is running for congress in Utah and visited home to gather support.
Friends and family put together a potluck in Sertoma park for the candidate and invited the public. Ghorbani says she is running a grassroots campaign and will not accept any corporate money. She is in town fundraising for her campaign.
"I'm really proud of the fact that I was born and raised in North Dakota. I feel like a lot of the values that were instilled in me early, which are about communtiy and service, and taking care of people, are a number of the things that I am bringing to this race," said Shireen Ghorbani, (D) Candidate Utah's Second District US House.
Ghorbani returns to Utah tomorrow.
She will be running against republican incumbent Chris Stewart.
