Bismarck man scammed out of $21,000

BISMARCK, N.D. - A 58-year-old Bismarck man was scammed out of $21,000 within three days.

The State Attorney General's Office wants to remind people to be aware of scams such as this IRS one.

"Don't pay attention to the IRS scam. These are not legit calls. When anyone says I'm with the IRS, I'm with the sheriff and I'm coming to your door to arrest you, that simply isn't happening. That isn't how the IRS works and these con artists, they raise your fear level," said Parell Grossman, director of Consumer Protection Division.

Grossman recommends to call the Police Department or the Attorney General’s office if you think something's suspicious.
