Bismarck man charged with luring minors by computer

BISMARCK, N.D. - A Bismarck man is behind bars after police say he was talking to a teenager inappropriately over Facebook.

The Bismarck Police Department says 39-year-old Brett Evans was messaging a 15-year-old girl and asking her for photos of her buttocks and a video of her showering.

Police say Evans messaged the girl that he was afraid to get into it with her because he didn’t want a case “for being a chomo.” Chomo is a slang word used for child molester. Evans is accused of asking her to write something up saying she wasn’t trying to get him in trouble.

He asked her to be his girlfriend and told her he would marry her in 2021.

The teenager told Evans she was able to meet him on December 28. Officers detained Evans at his apartment.

Evans admitted to officer to having a previous problem with child pornography and pleaded guilty to a possession of certain materials prohibited previously.

Evans is charged with luring minors by computer. A judge set his bond at $100,000 cash and no contact with minors.
