Bismarck man arrested for accidentally shooting his 6-month-old daughter

BISMARCK, ND - UPDATE: 3:10 p.m.: Christopher Simmons has been charged with reckless endangerment after his gun accidentally discharged a bullet and struck his six-month-old daughter.

He is making his preliminary appearance in court Monday at 3:30 p.m.


A Bismarck father is in custody after accidentally discharging his gun and striking his six-month-old daughter with a bullet.

Bismarck Police say they were called to a house in East Bismarck shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities say the 36-year-old man told officers he was trying to clear rounds out of his gun with it facing downward while his daughter was about four feet away from him on the floor.

Police say his daughter was struck in the upper body area but in stable condition.
